I absolutely loved Dorp Street Deli and if I lived in Stellenbosch I think it would be a place that I frequented very often. I had stayed over at a friend’s place and we were all ready to start making breakfast at home when the electricity went off. Unfortunately we’re experiencing quite a lot of power cuts at the moment and we knew that it wouldn’t be back on for a few more hours. So we headed off to another area to find restaurants that were still functioning. That is when we find this little gem. A place that made me glad that the power had gone off.
Dorp Street Deli is very cute. It is wooden and rustic looking with a lot of very creative elements dotting the place. It was a lovely day so we sat on the patio outside. We all started off with coffee which was told was made using Hazz beans. Mine was delicious and perfectly strong. Our waiter was so friendly and helped us decide what to order from the very tasty looking menu. The girls ended up going for the Full English Breakfast, which was 2 eggs, bacon, brown mushrooms, rosa tomato and toasted focaccia. The focaccia was amazing, if I had just been given that with some butter i would have been pleased. The boys went for the Eggs Blackstone which was potato rosti, bacon, baby tomatoes and hollandaise sauce. Basically it was the similar to the Eggs Benedict but instead of ham it had bacon. Murmurs of happy sounds went around the table as they tucked in.
I absolutely loved Dorp Street Deli and found it to be a great place to enjoy all that Stellenbosch has to offer. A very feel good place.
