We visited Delheim when we first moved to Cape Town and it was a very good first experience into the great world of wine tasting that this city has to offer. The tasting room at Delheim is situated in the downstairs cellar, known for its cobwebbed window and intimate atmosphere. The tasting was cheap at only R25 per person for 6 different wine tastings. At only R10 more you get a tasting as well as a tour. Our waitress was very well informed about the wine and gave us ample time to enjoy each wine before moving us on to the next. She was also very accommodating to those that preferred red over white or vice versa.

The restaurant area is quite self-effacing and not as pretentious as many wine farms often can be. It is rustic and pretty and they make you to feel quite as home as you enjoy your meal. Other than your normal menu options they also have some great platters on offer. The Delheim  Cheese Platter offers five local cheeses, olives, fruit preserves, fresh fruit, crackers and homemade farm bread. The German Platter offers bratwurst, cabanossi, local cheese, zwiebelkuchen (traditional German onion pie), dolmades, olives, mustard, preserves, fresh fruit, crackers and homemade farm bread. Then the Deli Platter which is the cheese platter but with added cabanossi, Black Forest ham and smoked eland. All these platters come in a choice of for two people or for one. I would highly recommended going with a group of people and ordering more than one to put in the middle of the table to share. Paired with a few glasses of wine of your choice and you have yourself the perfect day!

There motto is Delheim – Worth the journey!
