Col’Cacchio is known as one of the best places in Cape Town to enjoy a fabulous pizza. They have a bunch of branches in and around town, and usually offer reliable service, food and a great atmosphere. If you’re in the mood for a pizza that’s full of flavor with unique and unusual toppings and even specially designed pizzas by some well-known local chefs, Col’Cacchio is the place to eat at!
I visited the branch in Tokai, which has a great kid’s area and makes for the perfect family restaurant. Kids can also make their very own dough creations, which was a nostalgic reminder of my own childhood and the warm, homely Italian restaurants we used to visit as a family. Col’Cacchio has that old-school Italian feeling with a modern twist.
I ordered the Nacho Libre pizza which is a fantastic take on nachos and pizza. It’s by far my favorite original pizza in town, and comes highly recommended for Mexican food lovers. The best part of the Nacho Libre pizza is the sour cream, jerk spiced chicken breast and guacamole. If Mexican food is not your thing, there’s plenty of other original and creative pizzas to choose from to suit anyone’s taste buds.
I also enjoyed the homemade lasagna which came in a big, filling portion that was simply delicious. If you know traditional Italian cooking, then this pasta will not disappoint! Succulent beef Bolognese with a Béchamel sauce and Italian Parmesan – what more could you ask for?! Not to mention the perfectly cooked pasta sheets. The kids will love this one too!
If you’re not in the mood for pizza, Col’Cacchio also serves pasta, salads and even Banting-friendly pizza with a cauliflower base, which comes with a side salad too. All in all, if you want a warm, friendly restaurant with old school quality and upmarket décor, Col’Cacchio could just be your new favourite spot to grab a pizza with the family!
