Who doesn’t like pizza? I used to enjoy all pizza, any pizza, at any time. Now I still enjoy it at any time but I like the thin based and crispy ones. The ones that are more about the flavour on the top then the base at the bottom. Where every mouthful is flavour rather than sometimes flavour and sometimes dough. Little snobby, right? But how can you not be, when you get accustomed to such good pizza. Col’Cacchio fits in well with my snobbery and serves up delicious pizza and interesting flavours. They also taken into account people with food allergies or diets and have options such as yeast free, dairy free, wheat free, and gluten free pizza bases. They also do salads and pastas for those in the mood for something different. Or even better, they offer the cool option of a pizza with a hole in the middle filled with fresh crispy salad, for those wanting to be both good and bad. This is called the Pizza Foro.

We recently popped into the Claremont branch, and ordered ourselves two large pizzas to take away. Instead of eating them in the shop we took a walk to a park nearby and had ourselves a little pizza picnic. I ordered the Green Genie which was roasted garlic, roasted butternut, roasted beetroot, shiitake mushrooms, rocket, avocado, Italian parmesan, feta, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and balsamic glaze. My husband went for the Morituri which had seasoned chicken breast strips, bacon, feta, roasted red pepper and avocado. We shared and thoroughly enjoyed them both. Their menu is huge, so be prepared to stand for ages trying to decide what you want the most. My suggestion? Go for the half and half and try two different pizzas. Definitely worth a visit.
