Although part of a national franchise, Codfather in Camps Bay always delivers.
The seafood on offer is displayed in a large counter fridge and includes line fish, game fish and shellfish laid on crushed ice. Choose what you want and your meal is weighed and priced as you add to your selection.
The seafood is quite a treat to the eyes – “eye candy” as a friend remarked.
The waiters at Codfather are probably the most product knowledgable in the Cape Town restaurant industry. You are accompanied by your waiter to the display counter and any questions you may have are accurately answered – an unusual experience in itself.
The place is always full, making a reservation is highly recommended. Busy and buzzy would best describe the ambiance. If it’s an evening of true romance you are after, this is not the place. If it is exceptional quality seafood and service, then this is the place you were looking for.
I decided on the “Blue Plate,” a selection comprising essentially salmon hand rolls and tuna salad along with rice and a couple of sauces. Absolutely nothing could be faulted with my meal or experience. I could wax on lyrical about the quality, but suffice to say, I have eaten at Codfather on so many occasions that some time back I purchased a MVG (most valued guest) card. The card allows 50% discount on all meals and has paid for itself over and over already.
If it’s seafood you are looking for, get to Codfather, have your meal, take a stroll on Camps Bay’s world- renowned beach, then nip into one of the many cocktail lounges on the beach strip – you may find true romance.
