I’ve been a fan of Haas for a long time, and since they’ve moved to Buitenkant Street and opened up a much bigger shop I like it even more. It’s a place for creatives to showcase their work, including painting, photography, graphic, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, interior, curiosity and cushions. Then in amongst all this cool stuff is an amazing coffee shop and restaurant. It’s very eclectic and quirky, and you spend the first half an hour taking in everything around you before actually talking to the person you’re with.
We decided to pop into for some coffee. They have a wide range on offer and we just settled for their Americano in whatever blend they were offering that day. They got it just right and I couldn’t help feeling envious that I can’t get my coffee to taste like this at home. It was perfection in a cup and just what I needed. It wasn’t quite lunch time but the food looked so good so we decided to get some takeaway for later. We chose the baguette with chargrilled chicken, salad and feta. It was massive and well worth the money. We also chose the rustic salad which came with roast vegetables, nuts, greens, tomatoes, feta and bread. Just my type of meal.
Their menu is small but they do it all perfectly and I’d love to come back and try one of their cakes on offer. I was also very temped by their bunny chow which comes with homemade vegetable curry served in hollow bread or chargrilled chicken curry served in hollow bread. I think I may visit for this on a nice rainy day soon!
