I am so glad that I finally tried Bob’s Bagel Café in Kalk Bay as I’ve heard about it so often. Kalk Bay is by far one of my favourite places to go in Cape Town. With the slopes of the mountain on one side and the ocean on the other side it makes for such beautiful scenery. Then the little town itself is always buzzing with people, and it’s always so much fun to walk up and down the cobbled streets looking for shops and restaurants. You always find a place that you had never seen before. It’s littered with book shops, antique shops and cafes. I’d call it my happy place.
We decided to stop in at Bob’s Bagel Café for some lunch today. It is up one of the side roads so is way quieter than some of the main road cafes which looked far too crowded for my liking on such a hot summers day. Bob’s Bagel Café is small but has lots of character. The menu is tiny with just a few bagels on offer and possibly my only disappointment of the day was that they didn’t have avocado in stock. So instead we went the bacon and cream cheese bagel. Our friend tried the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, to which he added bacon. Although quite simple and sadly missing avocado, I had to say the flavour of the bagel was absolutely delicious. We also ordered apple juice and coffee. They don’t have credit card machines so make sure you bring cash, otherwise there is an ATM down the road .
A super chilled, laid back café.
