Balducci’s is a very impressive restaurant situated in the most popular tourist destination in Cape Town. The décor is absolutely stunning and they offer a very modern take on Mediterranean food. It’s often filled to capacity and it was definitely a busy night when I decided to try out the intriguing menu and atmosphere. Although the restaurant was extremely busy, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly our food took from ordering to being at the table. In most restaurants, quick service means lack of quality, but not at Baldacci’s! I was definitely impressed by my dining experience here.
For starters, I wanted to try out their famous sushi. I ordered the Vegetable Platter which included 16 pieces of a variety of vegetarian sushi. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it, I find that the sushi at their main competitor Willoughbys is better. Good try though!
For mains, I ordered the Pizza Fresca topped with fresh fior di latte cheese, marinated tomatoes, basil pesto and rocket. What a delight! I would definitely recommend their pizza as it was one of the best ones I’ve ever had, especially in Cape Town.
I indulged myself and ordered the White Lindt Chocolate Cheesecake for dessert. It was traditional, soft and absolutely fantastic for any white chocolate lover. Yum, yum, yum! I would definitely recommend their desserts from what I enjoyed and from what I saw going on at the surrounding tables.
Balducci’s is a great place to try out at the V&A Waterfront and offers something for everything. In fact, their menu is so big, you might have trouble deciding what to order. I would recommend their Italian dishes and desserts. Yum!
