I had the lovely experience of dining at The Avenue Restaurant and Grill recently and I must admit, it was much more than I expected. The restaurant is a great venue for a delicious meal and the service at The Avenue is excellent. Food comes out quicker than you can order it and although the restaurant is casual and friendly, they have some great items on the menu that will make you feel like you’re in a 5-star restaurant. The chef is a true master and if you’re looking for value for money plus a memorable menu, you’ve come to the right place! Sit outside in the wind-sheltered patio and enjoy the atmosphere of Harfield Village or sit inside and enjoy the bustle of a great homely restaurant. The Avenue also caters for vegetarians and vegans with some great dishes to try out and enjoy on their main menu!

For starters, I ordered the chilli poppers because I couldn’t resist when I saw “done our own way” on the menu. The three crispy, brown chilli poppers were served with a coriander mayonnaise that went beautifully with the subtle heat of the poppers. They were decent sized poppers and I would definitely recommend them to anyone, including chilli poppers newbies.

For mains, I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel served with chips, rice or mash. I chose chips and couldn’t stop eating them until they were all gone because they were really good. I love skin-on chips and The Avenue makes them well! My schnitzel was very tasty and came as two thin pieces of crumbed chicken breast, fried to perfection. The chicken was juicy and soft and also came with grilled veggies that made it a great, filling meal. It tastes just as good as a home-cooked meal, if not better!

For dessert, I ordered the Classic Baked Cheesecake with berry drizzle and served with vanilla ice cream. This was only one of many cheesecakes they had on offer that night, along with a range of other delicious-sounding desserts. What a great way to end off a wonderful dining experience! The Avenue is a definite must-try if you’re in the Kenilworth area and I can’t wait to go back!
