Just a five-minute drive from Victoria Falls, Lokuthula’s thatched roof, self-catering bungalows are a perfect fit for families or business retreats. Unlike most places in town, more than two guests can book into a bungalow here. They sit on well-maintained grounds where warthogs graze and views include the unfenced Zambezi National Park and its semi-arid bush landscape of Mopani and baobab, lilies and Zimbabwe creepers. A place still wild enough to witness meandering monkeys and elephants and impala making their way to the within site waterhole, and at night to fall asleep listening to a hyena or even a lion’s call. The bungalows are basic but clean and comfortable and besides from full kitchens have two bedrooms – the main has a double bed, and upstairs accommodates another two people in twins.

Lokuthula is located on the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge complex, but has its own swimming pool and onsite restaurant, The Boma, a truly spectacular evening dining and entertainment experience that shouldn’t be missed (but isn’t something you do twice). Guests can also stroll over to the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge’s MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant, which does excellent international fare with a Zimbabwe flavor – think lots of game meat and local fish. If you need to get into town and don’t have a car or feel like driving, the lodge runs a frequent shuttle bus into town and to the falls themselves.
