When I entered the lobby of Le Meridien N’Fis, I knew it was going to be a great stay. The intoxicating smell of roses filled the air and gorgeous mosaic art was everywhere in the lobby. I was whisked away like a VIP by the concierge and they quickly helped me get checked in to my room upon entering. Normally this takes quite awhile, but they did it in record time and filled out all my paperwork for me.
And this initial service experience continued throughout my stay at the hotel. The rather large hotel offers 277 rooms including 11 luxury suites on 5.5 acres of land and Andalusian gardens. Other amenities include a large tennis court, several restaurants, a hammam, and everything else you’d expect from a luxury hotel. The location in the Hivernage is also convenient allowing you to get quickly to the train station, Gueliz or the Medina.
As for my room, it was somewhat outdated and sterile compared to the lobby, but the outside seating area was extremely beautiful. I couldn’t help but open the glass doors and sit outside on the patio for awhile. If I had the time, I would have sat out there all day sipping cocktails in the shade. Looking down, I saw flowers all over the ground that led their way through the lush grass and onward to the swimming pool and orange trees. Back inside the room, the beds were fairly standard, as was the bathroom and the rest of the furnishings. Decoration was pretty minimal outside of a few pieces of Moroccan art and a blue vase. There were also a few bugs in the room, but I guess that is somewhat expected given the open design and being on the first floor. It’s not exactly luxurious, but the rest of the hotel makes up for it.
Around the hotel grounds you’ll find an immaculate rose garden that is perfect for a stroll at anytime of day. I recommend going for a walk in the morning when the sunlight is hitting them perfectly, making the dew glisten on the petals. Charming architecture and several fountains add to the romantic appeal. The pool is also extremely nice, surrounded by roses, and has multiple bridges that you can swim under or walk over.
Unlike many hotels in Morocco, a full breakfast is complimentary at Le Meridien N’Fis. The breakfast included a fantastic selection of just about everything you could want, from continental to Moroccan. There were also omelette, crepe and pancake bars where cooks would make them fresh for you on the spot. The outside dining area is divine and had an assortment of couches and chairs shaded by a giant Moroccan tent-like contraption. Be careful with your food though. I caught some birds flying in to take some snacks off people’s plates when they weren’t looking.
Service was fantastic from start to finish, and even after leaving they allowed me to hang out for awhile while I used their complimentary internet and printing services. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the treatment I received and it’s obvious the hotel truly cares about its guests comfort.
