The Hyatt Regency Casablanca is one of those hotels that seamlessly blends luxury and business amenities together to satisfy a diverse crowd. And if you’re looking for something near downtown, it would be hard to pick a better location, as it’s literally right across the street from the heart of the city and transit connections.

As you walk in the hotel, you’ll notice that everything is covered in elegant dark wood accents making for a refined and upscale feel. Roses located throughout the lobby help to balance it out and make you feel completely relaxed. Behind the reception desks, you’ll find a bar with a masculine vibe and beautifully decorated walls making it the perfect place to lounge around and smoke a cigar with some scotch. The rest of the ground floor is quite large and includes several restaurants, lounges and meeting rooms. Out back, you’ll find a modestly sized swimming pool hidden away from the noise of the streets. Unfortunately while I was there, it was drizzling the whole time so I didn’t get to enjoy it.

The rooms seem to match the rest of the hotel quite nicely and are also covered in dark wood — though the walls are rather bare except for a few Hyatt logos. Travelers coming with lots of electronics will appreciate the iHome radio for connecting iPhones or Ipods and numerous plugs by the beds. As for the bed, the crisp linen was fresh and comfy as should be expected in a hotel of this caliber, but was also nothing over the top. Bathrooms are also well decorated in slate walls and come with a separate large bath and shower. For coffee lovers, a Nespresso machine is also available and comes well stocked with several different flavors. Other great amenities include a large plush chair and ottoman, an ample business desk, and a nicely-sized flat screen television.

Most of the rooms at the hotel come with fantastic views of the busy downtown, and mine was also great from the fifth floor where I had a panoramic view of the massive city. Due to its downtown location, the hotel is often full of business travelers, and there was a pretty large conference going on while I was there. I took a quick tour of the conference hall and surrounding rooms and it would definitely be a nice setup to host any corporate event you could think of.

Service was excellent throughout my stay from reception to the bellboys to the concierge that gave me precise directions on how to get around in the vicinity. There are very few flaws (if any) in the hotel, and it’s rare to find a place that is so well rounded for the price and location.
