Located just 4km north of Victoria Falls town, on a small hill overlooking the Zambezi (the name comes from the trail it sits on, where elephants routinely pass on their way to water), Elephant Hills Resort is not the best hotel in town, but also far from the worst.

If you don’t mind a large property – there are 276 rooms and 13 suites (including one presidential suite) plus multiple restaurants and bars – Elephant Hills is a great luxury choice that is usually consistently good from a service perspective (not always a reality in Zimbabwe). Owned by the African Sun brand, the rooms here are comfortable, but do feel a little dated – too much leather. Bathrooms can also feel a bit uncomfortable as when you shower the water often leaks out from a two small curtain.

Beyond the rooms there is an 18-hole Gary Player-designed golf course, where players are routinely interrupted by meandering warthogs and elephants on the fairways. It is a pretty unique golfing experience! If golf isn’t your thing you can play either tennis or squash or take a dip in the pool. There’s also an onsite gym and spa.  And with four restaurants and three bars on site, plus 24-hour room service, you won’t get bored with your eating choices.

Business travelers looking to organize a conference also won’t be disappointed here – there are eight conference rooms and a dedicated staff. And should you wish to organize one of Victoria Falls famed adrenaline activities or go on a safari in Chobe, the hotel works directly with tourism operators to arrange.
