With cute cafes and beautiful restaurants scattered around the city, finding an amazing place to have brunch in Cape Town is a breeze. Here are our favorite restaurants to get brunch in Cape Town.
1. Tashas
With a branch at the V&A Waterfront, Tashas is a popular hangout throughout the day, but gets especially filled up for their their delicious breakfasts and brunches. From French toast to delicious sandwiches, this Mediterranean restaurant has it all.
2. Empire Cafe
Catch a few waves at Muizenberg Beach before heading to Empire Cafe. This café in Muizenberg is a local favourite that serves delicious breakfasts until noon that include fluffly scrambled eggs and some of the best coffee in the city.
3. Harvey’s At Winchester Mansions
On Sea Point’s busy Beach Road, Harvey’s at Winchester Mansions has a swinging Sunday Jazz Brunch Buffet. From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. you can tuck into anything from eggs Benedict and freshly baked croissants to California rolls and decadent desserts while a band plays live music. You’ll also be welcomed with a glass of wine and a newspaper — just in case everything else wasn’t special enough.
4. Jason Bakery
If you’re looking for a trendy, inner city brunch spot, then head to Jason Bakery. Serving artisanal bread, croissants, pies and sandwiches, as well as the usual brunch favourites (eggs and bacon included), this cute bakery is definitely worth the visit.
5. Starlings Café
In the suburbs of Cape Town is Starlings Cafe. This cute eatery serves dishes made with pasture-reared meat and locally grown veggies. The cafe also caters to a variety of diets including the Banting and Paleo diets.
6. Pulp Kitchen & Deli
Pulp Kitchen & Deli is located in the Garden Centre in Cape Town and makes delicious comfort food. With a small, healthy, but tasty brunch menu, Pulp Kitchen is a firm favourite amongst freelancers, as Pulp also offers free Wi-Fi.
7. Cascades on the Promenade
Enjoy a fab brunch at Cascades on the Promenade, with chefs cooking a delicious buffet breakfast from 7:30 a.m. right into lunch time. If you don’t want to eat the buffet, you can enjoy a farm-style breakfast instead.
8. Ours Cafe
Located in the seaside suburb of Kalk Bay overlooking the Kalk Bay Harbour is Our Cafe. This quaint cafe serves everything you need to have an excellent brunch, from farm fresh eggs to steaming hot cups of coffee. It’s also very popular with surfers and bodyboarders.
9. Manna Epicure
If you’re a real foodie then head to Manna Epicure on Kloof Street. With a mix of French, South African and Argentinian flavours, the food is scrumptious, the atmosphere is chic, and the location is perfect. Featuring homemade waffles, coconut bread and crispy bacon, it’s everything you need for a brunch.
10. Hemelhuijs
Opened in 2010, Hemelhuijs is a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Cape Town. With exceptional decor (which can be purchased) and food to match, this restaurant serves freshly squeezed juice, amazing coffee and has an all day breakfast menu. From French toast, to homemade prickly pear syrup, and soft poached eggs, you can enjoy a delicious brunch while watching the city pass you by.
11. Sidewalk Cafe
Located on the slopes of Table Mountain in the suburb of Vredehoek is Sidewalk Cafe. With its relaxing beach house, this neighbourhood cafe has views of Cape Town Stadium, the V&A Waterfront, and Table Mountain. Accompanying the spectacular views are the delicious brunch meals including omelettes, sandwiches and freshly squeezed juices.
12. Four&Twenty
Cooking with fresh, seasonal and sustainable produce, Four&Twenty has an amazing menu filled with low-carb options including Eggs Benedict. If you aren’t counting your carbs, go for the fresh squeezed juices.
13. Queen of Tarts
Queen of Tarts is a cute 1950s themed coffee shop that serves fluffy omelettes, wholewheat toast and good coffee. Known for its delicious pastries and cakes, it’s a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth.
14. Dear Me
If you have a specific dietary brunch requirement, then head to Dear Me. Serving simple and honest food in a beautiful space, the menu is delicious as is, but can also accommodate special dietary requirements including celiac, diabetic, lactose-free, gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan. You will find eggs, porridge, French toast and salads on their menu.
15. Superette
If you’re looking for a neighbourhood cafe that uses local, seasonal produce, then head to Superette. With a farm to table policy, the menu is simple and offers a special brunch menu which includes waffles, french toast and toasted banana bread.
