The Beast Zipline

1. The Beast – Orocovis, Puerto Rico

The Beast takes it name from its extreme height and fast speeds that rival any roller coaster. This zipline is considered the highest in the world at over 850 feet (260 m).

2. Gravity Canyon Flying Fox – Taihape, New Zealand

Speeds of over 100 mph (160 kph) make the Gravity Canyon Flying Fox a thrilling ride. The route runs over 175 meters (570 feet) and crosses the Rangitikei River. A retrieval system ensures you’re pulled back to the starting point after a few passes on the line.

3. Unreal Zip 2000 – Sun City, South Africa

Take a ride on this super-fast zipline which runs at 75-99 mph (120-160 kph) at various points, and covers a mile (1.6 km) in distance. Located just two hours north of Johannesburg, the Unreal Zip 2000 offers a great day out.

4. TreeTop Crazy Rider – Lurimbah State Forest, NSW Australia

Twist and turn through the trees on the zipline at Lurimbah State Forest. Running almost one mile (1.6 km) in length, riders experience 360-degree turns as they zoom past the dense collection of trees.

5. ZipRider – Icy Strait Point, Hoonah, Alaska

The ZipRider is one of the longest ziplines in the world, with a length over 5,330 feet (1624 m). A 1,300 foot (400 m) vertical drop is the highlight of this one-minute ride, which reaches speeds of 60 mph (100 kph).

6. Mega Zips At Mega Cavern – Louisville, Kentucky

An underground route helps this zipline stand out from other thrill rides. The course can take up to two and a half hours depending on group size. Tour guides accompany each group and provide information about area geology.

7. Zip World Snowdonia – Bethesda, Wales

Zip World Snowdonia has two thrill rides. ZipWorld Velocity runs over a mile (1.6 km), and claims to be the longest in the northern hemisphere. Its 500-foot (150 m) height combines with a 100 mph (160 kph) as you soar over a historic quarry and get a bird’s-eye view of the spectacular North Wales coastline. ZipWorld Titan offers three zip lines that span 8km (5 mi) and can be ridden by four people simultaneously at speeds up to 70 mph (112 kph).

8. ZipFlyer – Sarangkot, Nepal

This zipline rises over 5,000 feet (1524 m) above sea level and features speeds of up to 86 mph (138 kph). This 1.12 mile long (1.8 km) course soars over the beautiful Nepalese landscape and offers some of the best views in the area.

9. SkyRider Zipline Tour – Hunter, New York

SkyRider Zipline Tour is the longest and fastest zipline in North America. It spans over four miles (6.5 km) with a top speed of around 50 mph (80 kph). Riders encounter bridges as well as tree platforms along the route.

10. Miss Sky Canopy Tour – Nosara, Costa Rica

Riders can see the Pacific Ocean from this zipline tour. 2,400 and 984 feet ziplines are found along this course located among the treetops of a forest reserve.

11. La Tyrolienne – Val Thorens, France

La Tyrolienne highlights the excitement, thrills and beauty of the French Alps from a 1,300-meter (4265 foot) long line that soars 250 meters (820 feet) above a glacier. The two-minute-long ride hits speeds up to 65 mph (104 kph). Access is limited to skiers ascending the mountain via the Bouchet chairlift in the Orelle ski resort. This line is one of the highest in the world, at an altitude of 3230 meters (10600 feet).

12. Xtreme ZipRider at Utah Olympic Park-Park City, Utah

This 1500-foot-long (450 m) zipline features a 500-foot (150 m) drop that will take your breath away. It is listed as the steepest zipline in the world and includes a top speed of almost 60 mph (100 kph).

13. Amazonia Expeditions – Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Reserve, Peru

Amazonia Expeditions has the longest zipline in the whole Amazon. Riders zoom from platform to platform 100 feet (30 m) above the ground, through the tops of old-growth trees.

14. Arenal Volcano Park – Costa Rica

Arenal Volcano Park is home to a zipline that flies through 2,493 feet (760 m) of virgin rainforest. The ride lasts over two and a half hours and provides excellent views of the jungle and mountain peaks.

15. AdrenaLUNA – St. Lucia

AdrenaLuna is a zipline that only operates at night. This 1,748-foot-long (532 m) ride through the Caribbean rain forest ramps up the adrenaline factor as you zip at high speeds through the spooky dark jungle, then swing from a Tarzan-style vine into a “tarantula’s nest” before rappelling back to basecamp.
