A New App To Try In The Winelands Of The Western Cape

Wine lovers have a new app to help make their visit to the winelands of the Western Cape, South Africa more enjoyable.

The Cape Town based consumer engagement agency, iKineo has launched Sideways, a new smartphone app that aims to maximize the experience of tourists.

Sideways offers a search engine that allows visitors to search for wine regions, wine farms, restaurants and more.

“The app is not only designed to discover wine farms and restaurants. It gives tourists information needed to discover adventure activities like running or cycling trails, or the best picnic or sundowner spots,” said Judy Lain, Chief Marketing Officer for Wesgro, a promotion agency in Western Cape.

Every wine farm profile page within the app has useful information such as opening times, available wines and GPS coordinates to help you get there.

The app allows users to browse updated and themed curated lists, including must see activities by experts and celebrities.

Visitors can also check in to wine farms (much like Foursquare) and accumulate points that will unlock meal discounts, free wine tastings and more.

The app is currently available as a free download on iOS.
