As AfrikaBurn 2015 begins, we’d like to offer these incredible photos from last year’s event, for those who are not able to make it. They come courtesy of photographer Sarah Duff, who has attended several times in the last few years.
AfrikaBurn, which is South Africa’s version of Burning Man, takes place amid the stark desert scenery of the Karoo. That, and the wild getups of the revelers, certainly makes for some dramatic and amusing pictures.
A giant robot rabbit towers over the playa at sundown
A full load of burners in a converted beetle
Is it Star Wars, Star Trek, or Dune? Nope… just AfrikaBurn
Large crowd gathering with R2D2 looking on
Matching couple with floral butterfly dresses
Gas mask breathing apparatus with a live plant inside
Oooh, sparkly!
Great wide-angle shot of the playa with mountains in the distance
A fantastic sunset on the last day, as AfrikaBurn comes to a close
Burning the man. See you next year!
