It’s the height of the summer in Cape Town, and that means lots of fab festivals happening all around town. Tourists and locals alike are spoilt for choice and may even have a hard time deciding which ones to attend, as many of the best festivals happen at the same time. From gourmet wine and food tastings to music extravaganzas, here are some of the best Cape Town festivals that you have to go to in February.
Music
Darling Music Experience
This popular festival is getting ready for its 11th edition with tons of great music, including opera, jazz, classical and more at several country venues. Cape Town Electronic Music Festival
Cape Town City Hall will be turned into a massive club from Feb 5-7 when it’s taken over by some of the best DJs in the world. Last year’s festival was something to remember and this year’s should be even better with artists like Rudeboyz, DJ Lag, and Nightmares on Wax spinning tunes all night. Ultra South Africa
This popular electronic dance music festival that started in Miami has been alive and kicking in Africa since 2014. With so many EDM lovers in the city, what better place to host it than Cape Town? EDM enthusiasts can dance the weekend away to superstar DJs like Tiesto, Skrillex, Dash Berlin, and more. The event is being held at the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch on February 27-28.
Outside of these exciting events, others worth checking out include the Alien Safari Masqued Ball and Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts.
Wine
Stellenbosch Wine Festival
The Stellenbosch Wine Festival is one of the biggest events of the year and features a weekend program that shouldn’t be missed. There will be a wine expo featuring over 140 of the region’s wines, along with delectable food to match, and fantastic music to set the mood. Constantia Fresh Wine Festival
Stellenbosch isn’t the only place with a great wine festival, Constantia has one of the best in the country as well. On February 27, hundreds of wine connoisseurs will converge on the area to taste over 200 wines from 40 different producers at the Buitenverwachting Wine Estate. Feast Of The Grape
If you can’t make it to Stellenbosch or Constantia, why not swing by Durbanville for its annual wine event, Feast Of The Grape. In its fourth year, the event plans to have wines from 12 estates, along with fabulous food and plenty of live music. The event takes place at D’Aria Wine Farm.
