Kolkol Mountain Lodge is situated in the small town of Botrivier, just an hour outside of Cape Town. Visitors can either choose one of the five wooden log cabins, or an eco-friendly “glamping” style tent, both located on acres of privately owned farm surrounded by rolling hills, beautiful Cape fynbos and a variety of bird life. The lodge offers guests privacy, tranquility and an escape from the city — it is the ideal location for a romantic getaway, relaxing weekend with friends, or some quality family time.

With earthy tones used throughout and dusty pink proteas adding pops of colour to the exposed log walls, the spacious cabins are simple and rustic. Each one includes a fully equipped, gas-powered kitchen and a covered outdoor BBQ area. A great way to truly unwind is in the unique wood-fired hot tub, which overlooks the hillside. Each unit varies in size with the largest being the ten-sleeper King cabin, followed by the six sleeper Kolkol cabin and the more intimate Bugsy, Brunia, Sugarbus cabins.

With all the benefits of a log cabin, The Tent is the most private of all the accommodation options and offers guests a luxury camping experience. The Tent (and the cabins) sleep two guests each.

All accommodation is self-catered, but includes tea and coffee-making facilities, bottled drinking water, salt, pepper, BBQ spice and six free range eggs. There are also many local restaurants conveniently located within a five-minute drive from the lodge. The staff at the lodge are unseen (but are reachable by phone) and guests are emailed directions to their cabin with the key left in the door and a handwritten letter to welcome them. With no wi-fi or television and varied cell phone reception, guest are forced to digitally switch off and simply relax.

Two hiking trails, a dam for swimming and great mountain biking trails keep guests entertained during the day, while board games do the same at night.
