Travel Tip Of The Day: Where To Play Golf In Morocco

Playing golf in Morocco might not be the number one thing you think about when planning a trip, but if you are an avid golfer, the country offers some fantastic courses.

While there are scenic golf courses throughout the country, most of the best ones are near the modern coastal cities such as Casablanca, Rabat and Agadir.

If you’re looking to work on your game, here are four great courses to play in Morocco:

Mazagan Beach Resort, El Jadida

Designed by Gary Player, this 18-hole coastal golf course is one of the best in the country.  It’s located just north of El Jadida, but easily reachable from Casablanca. The course is the longest in the country, and most of the last holes run along the coast for dramatic finishes.

Golf de l’Ocean, Agadir

Opening in 2010, this course has hosted several European professional tours. It offers 27-holes featuring three different environments, including dune links, garden links, and desert links.

Mogador, Essaouira

This course also opened in 2010 is another Gary Player-designed marvel located in Essaouira. It’s also on the coast, and the challenging winds of the area make this one of the most difficult courses to play in the country. Bring your A-game.

Royal Dar Es Salam, Rabat

Morocco’s King Hassan II was a big golf fan and commissioned the famed golf course designer Robert Trent Jones to build this course in the 1960s. Located just 15 minutes south of Rabat, this course is one of the top places to golf on the continent. It’s definitely a course fit for a king.
