15 Reasons To Visit Cape Town

We spent the last month traveling around Cape Town, checking out all the Mother City has to offer – from new hotels to restaurants to the music scene. My personal favorite city in the world, justice can’t be done in 15 images, but here we begin with 15 reasons to visit South Africa’s most gorgeous city in 2015:

1. 2014 World Design Capital

Cape Town was named the 2014 World Design Capital and the buildings and street art here is truly unique. I love this piece in Camps Bay.

2. The most beautiful beaches

Clifton Beach is a personal favorite, although it gets crowded on summer weekends, but the water is a mix of turquoise and deep ocean blue and the cliffs sitting behind it shelter you from Cape Town’s famous wind.

3. Awesome live music scene

Cape Town’s live music scene rocks. From international talent that comes to play at the FIFA World Cup Soccer Stadium in Green Point to local bands, like The Rudimentals pictured playing a free concert here, be sure to check out a show.

4. Private Villa Rentals

If you have a group of people it’s more affordable to rent a self-catering residence than stay in a hotel. The property pictured here is Penthouse Two at Blue Views, where I spent a few nights. It is a five-bedroom villa just south of Camps Bay with the best views in town.

5. Hip hotel hybrids

Luxury self-catering accommodation is all the rage these days, and the just opened South Beach in Camps Bay is perfect for couples or friends looking for boutique studio accommodation that’s both posh and comfortable.

6. Sunset dinner at Tintswalo Lodge

For the most romantic meal in town, make a booking for just before sunset at Tintswalo Lodge off Chapman’s Peak Drive. It’s the only hotel in the Table Mountain Reserve, the restaurant is phenomenal and it’s a steal for the five-course meal and unbeatable views.

7. Sauna with a view

If you’re staying in a hotel, I love the Westin for this sauna alone. There beds are comfortable too, however.

8. The V&A Waterfront

It’s been around since the 1990s and always been the heart of Cape Town’s shopping and hotel scene. But these days its getting more and more trendy with shops like Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Burberry all located in the Victoria Wharf. Plus you get these fantastic Table Mountain views.
