Late Night Lagos: Where To Get Drunk And Party In The City

Lagos is undoubtedly one of the best nightlife spots in Africa. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the city is known for its music and film industries, and those folks always like to party. Of course, other locals, tourists and expats like to party as well, and there are plenty of places around the city where they can let their hair down and do just that. From lavish clubs filled with celebrities to casual lounges, here are the best places to get drunk and party it up in Lagos, Nigeria.

Cova Lounge

This Victoria Lounge hot spot has long been drawing crowds to its outdoor terrace and large dance floor, even when it was known as the Kudeta Lounge. It’s located on the 4th floor and rooftop of the Mega Plaza Shopping complex and is easy to find. On weekends, the club turns into a karaoke bar with regular grill outs, so you’ll have something to munch on after drinking half a dozen vodka cocktails.

New Afrika Shrine

Fans of Afrobeat music will definitely want to stop by the New Afrika Shrine located in the CBD. It’s owned by Femi Kuti, one of the most famous singers in Nigeria and the son of Fela Kuti. The crowd really gets hopping on Sunday where there is a three hour show hosted by Kuti. Of course in a venue like this, there are plenty of drinks to go around as well.

N-Tyce Lounge and Restaurant

If you’re trying to entertain a group of friends, bring them to N-Tyce Lounge and Restaurant. There’s something for everybody here, including karaoke, great food, music, and even ice cream at one large venue. It’s pretty chilled out during the week but gets packed on the weekends.

Club Quilox

Located in Victoria Island, this club is popular with celebrities and has several VIP areas where you can have a blast at night. The dance floor is rather huge and the inside can hold more than 300 people inside. If you’re looking for a long night of tearing up the dance floor, this club should be on your short list.

Vapors Night Club

Formerly known as Likwid Lounge, this Victoria Island hot spot features a two-floor night club with some of the best parties in the city. There’s also an outdoor terrace for people to socialize and chill out for awhile. Cocktails are also fantastic, and there’s a small menu of appetizers if you’re feeling hungry.

The Place

This Lekki hot spot has fantastic ambiance and an even better music scene. It’s routinely packed with the rich and famous of Lagos and is an easy way to rub shoulders with them (even if you don’t know who they are). Plan on staying awhile, as the music keeps bumping throughout the night.

Club 57

This Ikoyi club opened in 2014 and has grown in popularity in a short time. The atmosphere is always great and you’ll likely see local Lagos celebrities any night you happen to show up. They also have some of the best tropical cocktails in the city and a great appetizer menu for when you get the munchies.

Escape Night Club

This club is another fantastic Victoria Island destination that’s popular with the who’s who of Lagos. The inside atmosphere is great and you’ll often find dozens of people socializing over drinks after a long day at work. It’s known for throwing large, lavish events, and even has its own pyrotechnics inside.
